Liaison interpretation
Did you know that interpreters can also work without translation equipment?
The technique used in this scenario is called liaison interpretation: the interpreter accompanies a client to a bilateral meeting with a partner.
We regularly accompany delegations who have travelled to Brussels from all four corners of Europe to attend meetings with European Commissioners. Often they form groups of 2 or 3 people wishing to discuss a particular point or convey an idea to the highest European authority. Our liaison interpreters accompany them to the offices where they are received and act as a direct interface between the visitors and the official they are wishing to meet. Our interpreters facilitate mutual understanding, without having to interpret simultaneously.
