Simultaneous interpretation using booths is the most suitable mode of interpretation for congresses or conferences. This is when conference interpreters work in interpreting booths, be they permanent structures (in a convention centre, for example) or mobile booths which are set up especially for the event (this often applies in hotels).

Whilst it is not instant translation, simultaneous interpretation is a veritable simultaneous translation, with a gap of only a few words: conference interpreters always ensure they are a minimum of 8 words behind the speaker.
