The Brussels Agriculture Division and the Brussels Environment Authority organized an information day featuring a presentation of exemplary projects for the promotion of urban agriculture. Due to the current urban challenges (demographic, environmental, social…) urban agriculture is becoming a strategic factor in the urban development.

The next part of the conference tried to put Urban Agriculture into perspective – Very different from its rural counterpart, urban agriculture gives rise to debate, various initiatives and enthusiasm. Why has it emerged? What are its “business models”? What are its added values for the city and its people?
